Sally
Administrative Manager
Sally has worked in the dental field since 2007. She started out as an assistant for Dr. Payne and then when Dr. Black took over the practice in 2017, she switched to a receptionist, then an insurance coordinator and now she is our administrative office manager! Sally plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations here in our office. Sally was inspired by Janeen who was Dr. Payne’s assistant, which started her entire dental career.
She loves working for Red Lion Dental and her favorite part about working at our office is her coworkers who are like her second family. Sally and her husband have been married since 1993; together they have two sons, a daughter-in-law and a new grandson. In Sally’s free time she likes to read, do crafts and help her husband on the family farm. Her idea of a perfect weekend would be hanging at home by the campfire.
Alecia
Treatment/ Financial Coordinator
Alecia graduated from dental assisting school at York County School of Technology in June 2019. She started her externship at Red Lion Dental in August 2019 and then was hired to become part of the team in January of 2020. Alecia started out being Dr. Black’s assistant until Dr. Black opened his second office in York in March 2021, and then she switched to doing more administrative work. Alecia also does all of our in-office lab cases, which includes all of our 3D printed lab cases — models, dentures, occlusal guards and more. She enjoys working in the dental field because she loves seeing how it can impact patients’ lives in such a positive way and also enjoys seeing patients become more confident in their smiles.
Alecia’s favorite memory working for Red Lion Dental so far is when our office went to Scottsdale, Arizona for a SPEAR conference in April 2024. Alecia lives in Felton with her girlfriend Brianna, two dogs Ryder and Creed, and their cat Loki. She enjoys the outdoors, the beach, baking and reading.
Kennedy
Scheduling Coordinator
Kennedy has been working at Red Lion Dental since March 2023. Kennedy graduated esthetician school in 2022, which was one of her biggest achievements. Besides working at Red Lion Dental, she also works part-time at Texas Roadhouse in York! That is where she met Alecia and found our office. Her favorite part about working at Red Lion Dental is the relationships she’s built with her coworkers and patients!
Kennedy lives in Red Lion with her boyfriend Bryson, and their cat, Sunny. In her free time, she likes to cook, bake, garden, travel with her boyfriend and spend time with close friends and family. She also likes to go to Burning Bridge when they have live bands. She frequently visits her brother who lives in Nashville and who is her biggest role model. She strives to be as hard working as he is!
Liz
Lead Registered Dental Hygienist
Liz has been working at Red Lion Dental since September 2021. Liz not only graduated from HACC with an associate’s degree in dental hygiene, but she was also class president. Becoming a registered dental hygienst (RDH) has been one of Liz’s biggest and most meaningful accomplishments. In five years, Liz plans to still be at Red Lion Dental practicing dental hygiene and making an impact on her patient’s lives. Building relationships with her patients is one of Liz’s favorite parts about her job!
Liz is very close with her parents and sister. In her free time when she is not with her family or boyfriend Adam, she plays volleyball, does line dancing or cooks. Liz’s ideal weekend is cooking on the grill, watching college football and sitting by the campfire. She also likes to go to the Red Rose with her friends when they have live bands. One thing you might not have known about Liz but between the ages of 9 – 17 she would Drag Race at Maple Grove Raceway.
Jena
Registered Dental Hygienist
Jena just graduated from dental hygiene school from HACC in May 2024! Graduating from dental hygiene school was one of Jena’s biggest accomplishments — she graduated with honors while also juggling her life as a single mom of four and working for our office. Jena joined the Army National Guard in 2010, and while in the field she assisted with dental procedures, which started her dental career path. She was in the military for six years before she started working as Dr. Shalkey’s dental assistant in 2015. When Dr. Black took over the practice, she was his assistant while starting her journey to become a hygienist.
In Jena’s free time she likes to hike, bake, read and she is into canning. You will find Jena at any local coffee spot like The Hive, Belmont Bean Co and Britton Coffee Co. Jena’s perfect weekend consists of hiking with all four of her kids or really doing anything outdoors.
Katelyn
Registered Dental Hygienist
Katelyn graduated from HACC’s dental hygiene program with an Associate’s in Science degree in 2021, and has been working for Dr. Black ever since. Going to school and earning her degree to become a registered dental hygienist (RDH) has been her proudest and most meaningful accomplishment. Katelyn chose this career path because she wanted to be able to help others to have a healthy and more confident smile due to her being embarrassed of her own smile as a child. Katelyn loves coming to work each day with the Red Lion Dental family, and getting to build trusting relationships with her patients.
Katelyn grew up in northern Harford County, Maryland, and moved to the York area in December of 2013. She loves being an aunt to her seven nieces and nephews and making lasting memories with them. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, baking and reading.
Erica
Lead Dental Assistant
Erica has been at Red Lion Dental since November of 2020, but has been dental assisting since 1998. She got into dental assisting when she was a junior in high school through the work-study program and instantly loved it. Erica says she loves dental assisting because it is a mix of different procedures every day and not one patient is the same. She enjoys being able to help patients feel better about their smile.
Erica grew up in Northern Baltimore County in Maryland. In 2017 she moved to Shrewsbury and has been there ever since! She got into dentistry because her mom worked as a dental receptionist when Erica was growing up. So, she loved being at the dentist’s office — she would even help stuff envelopes as a kid to help her mom! When Erica is not at the office, she is at home with her husband Joe, their two kiddos and their dog Cookie! They are a gaming family and play often! Erica loves to spend time with her family and friends. When Erica and Joe get a night without the kids you can find them at breweries, local bands or their favorite local spot — Aviator Brew Hub!
Kelly
Dental Assistant
Kelly has been working in the dental field since 1990 and has been with Red Lion Dental since November 2021! As a child, Kelly used to be afraid of the dentist, but she decided when she got older, she wanted to pursue a career in the dental field to help others not be afraid of the dentist. Her favorite part about her job is being able to meet and help people be confident in their smiles.
Kelly is only child and was born and raised in York City. Kelly spends a lot of her time with her daughter, her boyfriend Tim, their two cats Romeo and Marley and their dog Percy. Kelly’s perfect night would be staying in her comfy clothes and then ending the night with a nice dinner out with Tim. When Kelly not at our office you can find her at the Red Lion Bowling Center helping Tim out, at Scruby’s Brewery bartending or pulling weeds, planting flowers and mulching for the older folks that can no longer do it themselves. When she is not doing any of her other jobs you can find her antique shopping, visiting her mom, or spending time with her daughter!
Brianna
Dental Assistant
Brianna, known as Bri, graduated from dental assisting school in 2022 and has been with us ever since! Bri decided on this career path because she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, and now she loves the fact she gets to meet new patients every day and put smiles on their faces!
Bri has been local to the area her whole life. Brianna got married to her husband Trevor in 2022 and they currently have two fur babies — their cat Jay and their dog Oakley. She states within the next five years she cannot wait to start her own family. When Bri is not at the office, you can find her at Wild Batch Bistro, Moon Dancer Winery or Codorous State Park! Her perfect weekend would be relaxing by the campfire enjoying her favorite wine with her dog and husband by her side. Every summer Bri looks forward to camping with her family!
