David Black, DMD
Dr. David Black attended The College of William & Mary, where he majored in Medieval and Renaissance studies, before attending the University of Louisville School of Dentistry for his dental degree, graduating in 2016. He regularly pursues continuing education courses to stay at the forefront of the dental field, and has completed over 100 credit hours of continuing education courses over the past two years. Dr. Black has received advanced training in facial esthetics, complex rehabilitation and cosmetic dentistry. He has practiced in the York area since 2017.
Dr. Black is a member of the American Dental Association®, and is in the top 1% of Invisalign® providers. He has also won Best Dentist in the region for two years (2022 and 2023). Dr. Black became a dentist because of his own experiences wearing braces for three years and having many teeth pulled. As a dentist, his goal is to help his patients be well – when you visit Dr. Black, he will not simply resolve the dental issue, but work with you to improve your health and how you feel about yourself and your smile.
Dr. Black and his wife, Stephanie, have two children. Stephanie is a professor of psychology at Penn State-Harrisburg. Outside the office, he enjoys laser engraving and spending time with his family.
Daniel A. Shalkey, DDS
Dr. Daniel A. Shalkey was born and raised in upstate New York in a small town called Delhi. He graduated from the University of Buffalo Dental School in 1979, a one-year residency at the San Antonio Veterans Hospital in 1980, and a two-year residency at the USAF Wilford Hall Medical center in 1991. He spent 15 years in the USAF as a dental officer and was able to retire from the military in 1995. He opened his practice in York in 1996 and sold it to Dr. Black in 2021. Dr. Shalkey and his wife, Marie, were married in 1982 and had four children, and now enjoy three young grandchildren. Dr. Shalkey now works a very limited schedule doing root canal treatments.
